History

History of working place of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Maharaj(Gurdwara Pakki Sangat, Pryagraj)

Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji started his pilgrimage from Shri Anandpur Sahib Ji (Pb.) to East Indian cities via Ropar, Patiala, Pihova, Kaithal, Rohtak, Mathura, Agra, Kanpur etc, preaching the people and finally reached Pryagraj in 1666 A.D. which is that called king of pilgrimage. At this holy place, Ganga, Yamuna & Sarswati rivers meet together. The Ganga and Yamuna can be seen clearly while Saraswati is not so clear. Guruji was the first to reach this holy place.

Yatha :            Teerath Raj Paryag Bisala

                        Tahan Pahunche Jai Kirpala

                        Sat Sangat Sikhan Badbhage,

                        Param Chhetar Gur Darshan Lage

                        Jaha Tirveni Sangam Hova,

                        Pratham Jai Teh Guru Khrova

(Suraj Parkash, Ras Assu 54)

At that time, Guru Ji was accompanied by His mother (Mata Nanaki), His wife Mata Gujri, this brother-in-law Kripal Chand Ji, His disciples Bhai Matidas Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, Bhai Diala Ji, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Ji Masand, Baba Gurditta Ji and many other great people and followers. That day was day of Sankranti. First of all Guru ji took a dip in Triveni and then gave offerings to Brahmins. On hearing the arrival of Guru ji, many Brahmins and poor people thronged to the place and Guru ji kept on giving them alms and offerings.

YathaPrtham Guruji Majan Keena

hutte Ju Dij dhig daan Su Dina

              Sun Sun Bipar Aee Samudae

              So Bhee Lekar Dan Sidhae

              Tis Din Sagre Guru Bhagwan

               Dete Rahe Dijan Ku Dan

(Suraj Parkash, Ras 11, Assu 54)

After Guru ji, his family and other people also took a holy dip When people of the city came to know about the coming of Guruji then many disciples came with love and offerings to see Guruji at Triveni. All people met Guruji, gave their offerings & they prayed with folded hands & said that it was their good luck Guruji came to this place for holy dip for their benefit. Its hearty desires all people that Guruji should stay here for few days to preach us.

Yielding to the requests of the people, Guruji came to this place from Triveni. At that time, there was a cottage of a Khatri Bhagat at this place. He requested Guruji to stay at this cottage and preach the people. Guruji stayed for 6 months & 9 days at this place and worshipped and preached the people. At this place one day Mata Nanaki  Ji remembered her husband Sikh Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji’s view that your son would be ninth Guru and would protect Hindu religion and he would be blessed with great warrior son with whom she would play as grandson in her lap before her death.

Yatha :  Sahe sareer par vigan anek

              Tav sat rakha gurta tek

Pun potra tuv hoe guru bhari

              Sehe kashat te anik parkari

(Suroj Parkash, Ras 8, Assu 56)

Sat Guryair dekh tum sat sat bahur nihar

Bahur tyaag nij prran koo hamre nikat padar.

(Guru Bilas Patshahi 6, Chapter 1)

Although these sayings were remembered by Mata ji earlier also on many occasions but the worship time of son at village Bakala went of slowly slowly.

26 years, 9 months and 313 days when Guruji came to the real world there after getting sud from the quarrelsome Dhirmal, went for the pilgrimage of holy places.

Then he was busy in construction of Anandpur Shaib so for a long period of time in Anandpur Nagri Mata Nanaki could not convey her heartly message to Guruji.

Now Mata Nanaki got an opportunity. On seeing, Guruji sitting in happy mood, Mata ji said, “My son, I want to share something with you.” Maharaj ji said, “Order me my mother.” Mata ji said, “Your father had said that you will be blessed with a great warrior grandson. But now I am very old and I wish to have my grandson.”

On hearing mother’s words, Guruji smiled and said, “The time is near when your wish will be soon fulfilled.” At that time, Guru ji said, “You all take a holy dip in Gangesh and listen to the Baani of Granth Sahib (Sri Guru Ganth Sahib Ji) with devotion and concentration, “You wish will be soon fulfilled by Almighty.” On hearing Guruji’s words, all people went for holy dip in Ganges but Mata Nanaki said to Guruji, “I am very old and cannot go for holy dip in Ganga.” Then Guruji said, “There is no need for you to go to Ganges Maata Ganges herself will came over here.” At that time, Guruji gave entrance to Ganges at a well placed at the corner of that place and so Mata Nanaki took a holy dip. After holy bath, Guruji started the Akhand Path of Granth Sahib (Sri Guru Granth Sahib) and that was done by Sikhs, Bhai Matidas ji, Bhai Satidas ji, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh ji Masand, Bhai Diala ji, Baba Gurditta ji. These five Sikhs did the Akhand Path religiously and was listerned to by Mata Ji and all people with devotion. In this way first Shri Akhand Path was performed at this place. From this very place Guruji started the tradition of performing Akhand Path. When six months passed away, then Guru ji blessed her wife Mata Gujri, “Now a great perfect man will be born to you as a son. He will protect the religion from cruels.”

Yatha :   Do rahe guru khatt mass teh, nij mahila var deen

Partago puran purakh argan han hai cheen

(Sri Guru Panth Parkash, Purvarad Visran 34)

Mar pit poorab keas pyana,

bhat bhat ke tirath nan

jab he jat trevane bhai,

pun dan din karat bette

tahi parkash hamara bhyo

patna shhir vikhee bhav layo.

(Bachittar Natak, Chapter 7)

At that time Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji, according to permission of God, came to the womb of Mata Gujri. This conversation has been stated by Bhai Santokh Singh ji in Suraj Parkash.

Swaia-Chand : Tirath raj trevani upper

                          Beet gai jabhun khat mass

                          Pun dan din karat betaya

                          Tehi aan keens parkash

(Suroj Parkash, Rass 11, Assu 53)

This conversation was also matter of Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji in his Vachitra Naatak. He described that when his father reached Pryagraj on his travel to East India after visiting many holy places, there he worshipped for many days and at that time he Guru Gobind Singh was born to Mata Gujri.

In this way Shri Guru Teg Bahadur stayed here for 6 months and 3 days and preached people. Here Guruji uttered the Shabad (Hymn) which  is there in Soratha Raga of Shri Guru Granth Sahib.

Sorath Mahalla 9 :    Jo nar dukh me dukh nahi manee

Sukh saneh aur bhei nahi jaa ke

                                     Kanchan matti manee

(Guru Granth Sahib, p. 633)

This place has one importance as Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj in his childhood in Bikrami Samvat 1728, begining of month Falgun travelled from Patna to Baksor, Chapra, Ason, Damva cities and pilgrimage places of Kashi, Mirjapur, Vindhianchal etc. preaching the people at all places and finally reached Pryagraj Triveni which is called step of freedom. Then after taking holy dip in Triveni, Guruji reached Beni Madhav, Askhavat and then finally reached this place. When people of city came to know the arrival of Guruji, many people thronged here with many types of gifts. At that time Mata Nanki said as getting very happy that this is the same place when Guruji has taken birth in the mother’s womb. On hearing this, Guruji declared that anybody having desire of a son, worships at this place, will be blessed with a son. Same blessings were also given by Mata Nanki and due to these blessings, many people have got sons after worship here. In this way Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj stayed here for 5 days and then moved to Punjab. This is the secred history of this place.

The management of this Gurdwara Tapa Ashtan Pakki Sangat (Ahiapur) is done by Sri Panchayat Akhara Nirmala Kankhal (Haridwar). Shri Panchayat Akhara Nirmala is main place of Nirmala sect. This sect was established by Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj.

Yatha :   Maria sikka jagat vich Nanak nirmal panth chlaya

(Var Bhai Gurdas Ji, Pauri 45)

Nirmal bhekh appar tass bin awar na koi

(Sri Guru Granth Sahib, p. 1409)

Kalyug Nanak nirmala panth chlayao aaee

Ved kateb bahura japde ek Khudai

(Sri Guru Granth Sahib, p. 1409)

This Nirmala sect preached Brahm Vidya from Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Guru Gobind Singh Ji etc. and propagated religion. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj was all in all. He preached to save Indian cultural  and society. And to end the cowardice persecution in Indians. He obtained  knowledge and weapons at the holy place of Paonta Sahib.

One day on Bikrami Samvat 1742, 1686 A.D. Guru selected five, Nirmala Saints from a large gathering of people who were already having knowledge about Gurubani language and history of Gurus. These 5 Saints were Sant Karam Singh, Sant Ram Singh, Surjit Singh, Sant Ganda Singh ji, Sant Bir Singh Ji and Sant Saina Singh Ji. These 5 Saints were given saffron clothes to wear and Kamandals to give proper appearance to them and ordered them to go and to learn Sanskrit Kashi (Banaras) and then with completing their studies, they should come back to teach other Sikh disciples. He said that his blessing would always be with them. As per Guruji’s order, these 5 pupils started their study at Kashi, the place where they studied at Kashi is famous by the name of Chetan Mat which is under Nirmala sect. At this place these 5 pupils underwent hardworking and did not care for winter, summer, hunger about Slommee, thrust and studied Ved Vedanta, Khat Shastra, Smrities, Poruna, history etc. and then by work of many years came back to Guru Ji and started teaching other Sikhs about Sanskrit and other typical books and by doing so got the praise of Guru Ji. From that time till now, to teach, and to preach about religion, to wear saffron clothes is a trend of Nirmala sect.

As there are places for each Khat-Darshan Saint sect, Nirmala sect has its main head quarter known as Shri Panchayati Akhara Nirmala. Main office of this is situated at Haridwar in Uttrakhand and was established in Bikrami Samvat 1918, 1862 A.D. First head was 108th Sri Mahant Saint Babu Mehtab Singh Ji Maharaj. This is a skilful management for (food and shelter) for all Saints and disciples and tourists. 2nd place is Gurudwara Pakki Sangat, the heas of which, are appointed by Sri Panchayati Akhara Nirmala Haridwar (Kankhal) from the beginning.

At this holy place Sriman 108 Mahant Pritam Singh served for 24 years. After him, service was given to Sriman Mahant Didar Singh Ji who got built a new building. Now Sriman Mahant Gian Singh Ji is serving not a days. The present head of Panchayati Akhara Nirmala is Sriman 108 Shri Mahant Pandit Gian Dev Singh Ji Maharaj Vedantacharya.
